The fun has begun. Thanks to Scott W. Gordon and Celsius for being my official training and performance drink for the next few weeks at least :) About to get some real work done! I have my first AAA tournament in the Dig The Beach series June 2nd in Ft Meyers.

hey everyone! i need a favor! gonna be rocking some awesome workout gear this summer for my new partnership with Mitch Mitchell and his line Workout Or Die Trying. ill be using them for beach volley this season since my arms get so dang sweaty! i cant decide with sleeves to get! which one do you like best? green’s my favorite color but i dont know how good ill look in them haha! im leaning towards the blue ;]

that moment when you finally decide to get rid of your favorite volleyball shoes from college :[ RIP Mizuno Wave Lightening (2009-2012)….you bridged the gap of 2 seasons without getting free shoes. lol and yes, thats a size 43.5/11.5W….i have big feet for a short girl.

Here’s an article about the top cardio workouts. Personally when I am home I am a big cyclist and runner. I bike about 50 miles a week. I think it is a great way for me to escape my town and just go on a straight biking path along the highway. I bring my headphones and it’s my time to relax.

While I am here training abroad I mainly get my cardio on the stationary bike. And honestly I only do about 20 minutes worth, on a really high gear, and I make sure I keep my RPM above 90.

I do my workouts short, but fast and efficient. I work up a sweat when I’m training but I am also breathing heavy because I have very little rest. I do circuit training for everything. Whether I’m lifting weights or doing jumps or w/e, I do a circuit of 4-5 exersizes at a high, but efficient, speed and allow a small rest in between each set. Just enough time to catch my breath and then I do it all over again.

When it comes to volleyball specific cardio training, it is never wise to just do long distance training. Volleyball is a fast twitch muscle sport and requires short bursts of speed. So if you do long distance training, as I do, make sure you back it up with some speed and agility work [eg: sprints, plyometrics, etc]

SN: also long distance training alone lowers your vertical.

no matter what happens on the court, or off the court, i still get excited like a little kid before every training. its my favorite time of the day! yes, im crazy, but i love this sport to death!
